The Corset Dress
The Corset Dress is turning out to be a trending style and this is something I can definitely see translating really well into boudoir photography. The structured silhouette of the corset dress accentuates the natural curves of the body, creating an alluring yet elegant look that is perfect for intimate settings. With its intricate laces and detailed bodices, this style not only enhances the figure but also adds a touch of vintage glamour that can elevate any boudoir shoot.
Incorporating the corset dress into your boudoir wardrobe allows for a variety of poses and styles. The fitted design encourages confidence, allowing the wearer to embrace their femininity while feeling both sexy and sophisticated. Whether you opt for a classic lace-up corset or a more modern, sleek design, the versatility of this piece can adapt to different moods and themes.
Accessorizing is key to achieving the perfect boudoir look. Consider pairing the corset dress with delicate stockings, statement jewelry, or even a soft robe to enhance the overall aesthetic. The play of textures can create stunning visual contrasts, making each photograph a work of art.
Furthermore, the corset dress is an ideal choice for those looking to celebrate a special occasion, such as an anniversary or engagement. It can serve as a beautiful surprise for a partner, showcasing not only your personal style but also your confidence.
As this trend continues to gain popularity, it’s clear that the corset dress is more than just a fashion statement; it’s a celebration of the female form, making it a timeless choice for boudoir photography that empowers the wearer and captivates the viewer. So, if you’re considering a boudoir shoot, don’t overlook the corset dress—it might just be the centerpiece of your most stunning and intimate photos.
The Wedding Veil Alternative
The traditional veil isn't going anywhere so if that is your jam, no to worry we have several of them in the studio that you can use for your session. There are some new trends emerging for those who do not want the traditional veil attached in their hair.
There are the these flowing silk chiffon capes that give the illusion of a veil and a cover up with a long train. Long scarves that drape over the shoulder and trail behind. These are most definitely a top contender in my book for bridal boudoir at our Seattle photo studio.
Flowers accents and embellishments
Flowers, accents, and embellishments are making a statement on wedding dresses too. I have pretty unique ideas of how we could incorporate these.
For a bridal boudoir session, we can incorporate soft, romantic floral elements to create an intimate yet captivating look that enhances the bride's natural beauty. One idea is to use 3D floral appliqués that gently cascade down the body, adding depth and texture to a sheer chiffon robe. These appliqués could be crafted from delicate lace, chiffon, or soft tulle, creating an ethereal, feminine effect. Picture a set with flowers in soft pastels or even deeper jewel tones, strategically placed to highlight the bride's silhouette and create an elegant, romantic feel.
Another beautiful option could be incorporating floral embroidery along the edges of a delicate robe, bodysuit, or garter belt. This subtle touch not only adds an element of whimsy but also draws the eye to the details, creating visual interest that can be highlighted in photos. We could opt for embroidery in contrasting threads, such as gold or silver, to make the design pop, or choose a more understated monochromatic scheme for a soft, timeless look.
For a truly unique and dramatic flair, we could introduce a detachable floral cape or overlay. This would provide two distinct looks for the session—one with the delicate floral accents for a soft, dreamy effect, and another more classic and sleek once the cape is removed. The sheer, flowy nature of the cape would create stunning movement, while the floral embellishments could add a fairy-tale vibe.
We could also experiment with floral patterns on a sheer overlay. Imagine a romantic, sheer piece of fabric with vibrant floral designs that shimmer under the light, offering a magical, almost otherworldly look. This would be especially striking in an outdoor boudoir session or in softer, natural lighting.
Lastly, let's not overlook accessories! Small, floral touches like a floral crown, hairpins, or even a delicate bouquet could tie the entire boudoir look together. These accessories could mirror the flowers in the outfit, enhancing the overall aesthetic and adding a personal, meaningful touch to the session.
By blending these elements—textured appliqués, embroidery, floral accessories, and unique details—we can craft a bridal boudoir session that highlights the bride's beauty, femininity, and personal style, all while embracing the romantic, nature-inspired theme. Flowers and delicate embellishments can truly make a boudoir look stand out and feel extra special.
Vintage Vibes for Lingerie
The elegance, the flair, the unapologetic celebration of individuality—each era boasts a distinct charm that captivates the imagination. The roaring 20's, with their flapper dresses and dapper suits, exude an infectious energy, a time when jazz filled the air and people danced like there was no tomorrow. Bring in feathers, pearls, headpieces and old hollywood lighting to pair with our diva robes.
The 1950's and 60's brought a wave of pastel colors and playful patterns, where rock 'n' roll ruled and the world was on the cusp of liberation. Pull in some garters and silk stockings with sculpted bras, waist cinchers and tulle petticoats.
Imagine stepping into a world adorned with art deco motifs, where every corner sparkles with glamour. The lavish parties of the past echo in our minds, and we find ourselves longing for that sense of grandeur, that collective joy of celebration. Haute couture reigns supreme, with gowns that swirl like the very essence of a bygone era, and tailored suits that redefine sophistication.
And then there's the renaissance—a time of artistic rebirth, where every brushstroke told a story of passion and beauty. The high courts of history were filled with lavish banquets and elaborate festivities, where creativity flourished and minds were set free. To embrace these styles is to embrace a legacy, a connection to those who came before us and shaped the world with their artistry. Utilizing the corsetry and bloomers.
So let’s resurrect the spirit of these iconic eras! Let’s fill our lives with the aesthetics that inspire us, from vintage-inspired clothing and lingerie to art that reflects the vibrancy of those times. Let’s host gatherings that celebrate the joy of life, where laughter and music fill the air, and every detail is an homage to the creativity and flair of the past. The past is not just a memory; it’s a wellspring of inspiration, waiting to be revived and celebrated anew.

Bridal Boudoir, more for them or more for you?
Bridal Boudoir a Gift for You Too
Bridal boudoir, also a gift for yourself.
You may have heard that boudoir is the perfect groom’s gift. It is. But you may not realize that this experience is truly a gift for the bride.
Boudoir photography was introduced as the “sexiest gift for the groom” not too long ago and the new trend really took off rapidly as more and more grooms received these gifts and were left speechless. As a photographer that was a part of this new movement, it was very fun to see momentum and words spreading as groomsmen watched the grooms’s eyes widen with amazement as they saw him open his secret album just minutes before seeing his bride walking down the aisle toward him.
A must-have item. Boudoir was once considered too risqué or taboo and it has now converted into what I love it to be… a private celebration of the beauty and confidence of intimacy within a couple. And not just for the couple as a unit, individually for the bride herself as well.
Boudoir is a way to celebrate and document what as old as time, has been one of the most special traditions in womanhood… the season of wedding preparation. It is much different than it was even 100 years ago. Now you have pinterest, wedding magazines, and trying to figure out your #wedding hashtag.
The overall anticipation and tradition remains. While our preps definitely look different, the sweet sentiment swirling in a bride’s heart is all the same as it ever was. She radiates with the hopes, wines, and dreams this memorable time inspires. And as a photographer, I love that I get to celebrate and document the bride, aglow with anticipation and rosy with the frantic pace that accompanies this season.
It’s wonderful seeing our brides experiences. She comes to the studio, feeling nervous, but eager for the pampering. She enjoys the confidence boosting experience more than she ever thinks she will, feeling better in her own skin when she leaves, and she romances her groom with this sweet gesture. It’s a win/win. As a boudoir photographer, I feel my job is to enter into that space with her, inspired to create something that represents her beautifully.
Again, I know exactly what you are going through… so much of the wedding prep is about tasks, to-do lists, deadlines. I love that a boudoir session is a time slow down, tune out the must do-dos, and to step into this season by being present. I highly encourage you to do this for your spouse-to-be, but even more so for yourself.
Give the Best Valentine's Day Gift of All: YOU!
Finding the perfect gift can feel like the hardest task of all. When you’re young, there are new trends, new hobbies, and new toys that always make great gifts. But there comes a point in our lives where it takes a lot of creativity to find the perfect gift—especially when it comes to Valentine’s Day. Maybe you feel like your partner has all the things they need and want. Or, maybe your partner is just the most difficult person to shop for… and you have run out of all your “go-to” gifts. But I have the solution for the best gift of all. What a better gift to unwrap than having them unwrap you!?
Give the Gift of YOU with a Boudoir Session
Be the gift that your partner unwraps. When they pull off the bow and tear off the wrapping paper, they open the package to reveal a saucy, confident beauty. This gift is so much more than an album, and so much more than a photo. A boudoir photography shoot can peel back the layers that you have wrapped yourself up in. The layers that you have put onto yourself that no one else sees.
As women, we can bury ourselves in insecurities and self-consciousness. Boudoir photography can help you to peel back those layers. You can begin shedding the less-than-wonderful comments and criticisms you have given yourself over the years. Leaving them behind can be a huge release! Seeing yourself as a beautiful and fierce woman can lift your perception of yourself to a higher level!
I myself have struggled like everyone with body image. Why is it we only see our flaws? Every morning as I get dressed, I look in the mirror at my body. I make sure to say positive things about how I love this and appreciate that. I have not always been like that towards myself. I have noticed, the more I tell myself that I love myself and my body, the better I actually treat it. The more you say it the more you believe it! So, start saying it. Would you be friends with someone who said the things you say to yourself? Be kinder to yourself. Love yourself.
Confidence is the most beautiful thing you put on in the morning.
A collection of tasteful boudoir photography images is a tangible reminder of who you are underneath all the outfits you own. A reminder of your core beauty. This is a truly unique gift that cannot be purchased online, and it shows effort and thought. You made a huge contribution to the making of the gift. Without your time, bravery and vulnerability it cannot be done.
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and there is still time! I have THREE SPACES left for boudoir sessions. That is just the perfect amount of time to have a gift placed in his/her/their hands for that weekend of gushy romantic gestures.
